Annual Day – 2019

Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies hosted an Annual Day in the department on 19th December 2019. The day started with an Invocation Dance by Ms. Chandini of III Semester MBA. Following the Invocation Dance, the dignitaries for the day lighted the lamp and spread an aura of positivity among the audience. Dr. Vatsala G, Director, SIMS introduced the dignitaries to the audience. The Chief Guest for the Day was Ms. Jyothi, Film and Cine Artist. The event was presided over by Shri. N R Panditharadhya, President, Seshadripuram Educational Trust. The other dignitaries on the dais included Dr. Vijayakumar A B, Director, Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Management, Prof. Amruta N, Assistant Professor and Convener of the Event as well as Prof. Divya H N, Assistant Professor and Co-Convener of the Event. Dr. Godhamani, Governing Council Member of SIMS, also graced the occasion with her presence.

The prizes for the Cultural Events that took place at the Curtain Raiser Event of Annual Day on 16th December 2019 were given to the winners. The prizes for the Management Forum Activities like Poster Presentation, Best out of Waste as well as Idea Generation were also awarded to the students that happened during the semester. The student volunteers who had toiled hard to make this event happen were also given a token of appreciation for the same. Following the Prize Distribution Ceremony, The Chief Guest for the day addressed the gathering. Ms. Jyothi spoke about how the students must push harder to make their dreams a reality and they must strive to utilize the potential to achieve their goals. She also enlightened the students about how service to the community plays a very important role.

Curtain Raiser for Annual Day – 2019

On 16th December 2019, the Curtain Raiser for the Annual Day was held where students of I and III Semester participated in various events. These events included Solo Singing, Group Singing, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Skit and Fashion Show. Many teams from both the sections participated in these events and the best performers were chosen.

The students put up a great show on the day in all of these events and the judges awarded the students with the prizes which would be presented to the students on Annual Day – 2019 to be held on 19th December 2019. The students got an opportunity to display their talents in various fields like singing, dancing, skits, fashion walk, etc. It was a great day to be cherished for all the students.

Ethnic Day and Saraswati Pooja

On 5th October 2019, Ethnic Day and Saraswati Pooja was celebrated in the department. Ethnic wear was the code for the day. The students of both III and I Semester decorated their respective classrooms and a Rangoli competition was held for all the sections. Prof. Godhamani who was a special invitee for the day decided the winners for the same. Along with this, a Pooja happened for the entire department where all the rooms including the library, PG Lab and the Incubation Centre was decorated. The students also were a part of the competition wherein Mr. and Miss. Ethnic for the day were chosen.

Overall, it was a great day of celebration and the students of III Semester got to interact with their juniors who had just entered the department.

International Yoga Day - 2020

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.

To commemorate International Yoga Day – 2020, Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies organized a webinar piloted by Prof. Rajeshwari Mysore, Visiting Professor, Yoga Centre, Bangalore University, on 21st June 2020. Prof. Rajeshwari began the session by demonstrating Surya Namaskaras. She explained the importance of performing Surya Namaskaras, especially because of the Solar Eclipse which was happening on the same day. She also demonstrated some standing postures (Asanas) and showed the students on how to practice Pranayama. She threw light on why it was so important to maintain the health and develop immunity during this ongoing pandemic. The trainer also instructed the students to practice Yoga on a daily basis and not stop since International Yoga Day is over.

Group Discussion Activity

Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies inaugurated Vision Tribe in 2018 as part of the co-academic activities for the students. The Activities under Vision Tribe are designed for the students by the students, inculcating a sense of innovation, creativity as well as awareness of latest affairs across the globe. Students will have activities designed for them under Vision Tribe throughout the course period at regular intervals.

A group discussion activity was held for the I Semester Students of Section A and Section B on 10th and 11th October as part of their Management Forum activity. Students were divided into groups of 5 each and were given topics to speak either for or against. The topics were concerned to current affairs, technology and a lot other issues concerning the country. The students presented a lot of valid points for and against the argument and demonstrated good stage skills and presentation skills. It was a great experience for the students to learn the various aspects of a group discussion.

Idea Generation

As a part of the Vision Tribe - Management Forum, a third activity was conducted during the academic year for the I Semester students namely "Idea Generation". In this activity, students were divided into groups and made to put on their thinking caps and generate a product or a service idea which would be innovative but also has the potential to make its mark on the market. The students came up with a lot of creative ideas and the selected teams were given an orientation as to what can be done to make that idea a reality. The winning teams were also awarded for their efforts.
