The COVID19 pandemic has left the world population in an abyss. People are unsure of what lies ahead of them as the pandemic has thrown all our personal and professional life goals out of gear. In order to clear some of this uncertainty especially among the fresh graduates, Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies organized a webinar on 23rd May 2020 which was piloted by Mr. Vinod Tantri, Founder of Knowledge Bell and a renowned career coach.
Mr. Tantri threw light on the plethora of opportunities that have risen up due to the pandemic which young graduates can exploit in order to shape their careers ahead. Digital skills have become indispensable today for all organizations who treat that as a mandatory requirement whilst recruiting their workforce. Mr. Tantri gave a wonderful illustration of the same and also hosted a very interactive Q&A session at the end of the webinar where he answered the numerous questions that were left by the participants in the webinar chat.
Overall, the webinar was received well by all the participants who reverted with a positive feedback post the session.
A One-Day National Level Symposium on “Digital Banking” was organized at Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) in association with Bangalore Management Association (BMA) on 17th October 2019 at SIMS campus in Yelahanka. The symposium commenced with an inauguration programme which had Shri. R Gandhi, Former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries who joined Shri. Gandhi on the stage included Shri. Srinivas Murthy, Managing Committee Member – BMA, Nadoja Dr. Wooday Krishna, Hon. General Secretary of Seshadripuram Educational Trust, Dr. Vatsala G, Director of SIMS and Dr. Vinay S, Associate Professor at SIMS and Convener of the symposium.
The inauguration was followed by plenary sessions having prominent members from the banking industry as panellists who deliberated on the issues and challenges in the implementation of digital banking system across different sections of the society. The plenary sessions were followed by a technical session where participants presented research papers on the sub-themes of the conference. The best papers, one from the faculty participants and one from the student participants were selected and awarded with a “Best Paper Award” along with participation certificates at the end of the day.
A One-Day Faculty Orientation was held at Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies on the subject “Business Statistics” on 13 September 2019. The main purpose of this orientation was to give the faculty, who are teaching this subject, a proper understanding about how to go about teaching the subject to the students as well as what pedagogy can be adopted when going forward with the subject.
Prof. Madhavan S Varadachari who is a Quality Management Consultant piloted the first technical session on Inferential Statistics. He explained to the audience the various concepts that need to be covered in the respective modules and the pedagogy that needs to be followed.
Dr. N Jaysankaran, Advisor, NMIMS University and Former Vice-Chancellor took reigns of Technical Session II where he gave a detailed list about how the faculty can go about teaching the students Descriptive Statistics. He provided the audience with a broader perspective on Bayes’ Theorem and TAT (Thematic Appreciation Test) and linked them to a variety of real-life examples, which he faced. He also gave the audience various situations and cases where they could apply these tests in the most basic and day-to-day activities.
The final session was handled by Dr. B.C. Prabhudev, Principal, GRV Business Management Academy and Resource Person, CBSMS. He covered the entire syllabus and mentioned about the various weightages that should be allotted to each module and the concepts that are important for the students. He also gave a gist of practical activities that can be implemented in the class to provide more clarity on the subject. The session was brought to a close with the certificates being issued to the members who had attended this orientation program and a group photograph being captured.
